Villa Astor is a luxury property perched on top of a cliff on the Sorrentino coast. Thanks to its privileged location, the holiday villa affords impressive views of the neighboring bays, the Mediterranean Sea and of Vesuvius.
Built by the US Ambassador, William Waldorf Astor, in the 19th century, this stunning private residence boasts one of the most elegant gardens in Italy. Moreover, it is truly one of the finest properties in Europe, displaying the creative stamp of the renowned architect and interior designer, Jacques Garcia.
The villa is built on a two-hectare estate that boasts carefully-appointed gardens, water features, a swimming pool, and an annex. There is a stunning rooftop terrace where guests can enjoy uninterrupted views of Sorrento and the Gulf of Naples. The property also has private access to the Mediterranean Sea and several sea caves to explore.
Spread over three levels and offering an ample interior of 12,000 square feet, Villa Astor is a veritable museum with a collection of no fewer than 145 archaeological items of cultural and historical importance.
Access to the property is via the main entrance situated on the ground floor. This level boasts marble floors and columns, with an elegant library, two living rooms and a foyer. Each room features its own private balcony where guests can enjoy the unforgettable views.
Ascending an outdoor staircase, guests reach the mezzanine floor which offers a terrace and a glass-covered portico suitable for dinners and parties. In addition, this floor comprises a music room with a piano, a living room adjoined by a spacious dining room and an ample kitchen.
The villa can comfortably accommodate 12 guests in its six beautifully-appointed en-suite bedrooms which are situated on both the first and the second floors. The master bedroom features a walk-in dressing room and boudoir.
The property also features wellness facilities in the basement with the latest fitness technology and massage amenities.
Villa Astor is the ultimate destination for guests who wish to retreat to a historical property, enjoy impressive vistas and relax in utter luxury. Thanks to its richness embodied in every detail and its history, the property is suitable for events of up to 70 guests and is ideal for photo shoots or corporate events.
The gardens alone are worth the stay. Walking through them feels like stepping into a fairy tale. The villa itself is spacious and elegantly decorated, with every amenity you could ask for. The private sea access was a highlight for our group.
The perfect blend of history and luxury. The villa’s architectural details and antique collections are fascinating, while the modern amenities ensure comfort. The pool and gardens provide a serene escape. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
A true gem on the Amalfi Coast. The views of Vesuvius and the Mediterranean are unforgettable. The bedrooms are luxurious, and the common areas are perfect for entertaining. The staff was attentive and made our stay even more enjoyable.
Staying here felt like living in a museum, but with all the comforts of home. The master bedroom is particularly impressive, and the rooftop terrace is the best spot for sunset cocktails. The location is quiet yet close to Sorrento’s attractions.
The villa’s historical significance adds a unique layer to the experience. The library and music room are delightful spaces to relax. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals, though we also enjoyed dining out in nearby Sorrento.
